The Washington Ballet: Donor Communications Specialist Intern (Washington, D.C.)
OVERVIEW
The Washington Ballet (TWB) seeks an intern with an interest in nonprofit
development, external relations, and/or communications. The ideal candidate
possesses writing, graphic design, and research skills and is detail-oriented,
communicative, adaptable, and customer-service oriented. The Donor Communications
Specialist Intern will be required to be onsite as specified by the Bloomberg College Arts
Intern program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess existing donor communication materials and identify opportunities for 
 streamlining
- Update and edit donor communication materials content and design 
- Research vendors for producing donor communication physical assets 
- Conduct research to identify new prospective donors and enter information into 
 Tessitura
- Collaborate with Development staff to build a donor communications plan for the 
 2025.26 season
- Participate in weekly Development department meetings, and additional cross- 
 departmental meetings as appropriate
- Present completed donor communication materials to relevant TWB staff at the 
 conclusion of the internship
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Project management 
- Content Writing 
- Graphic design (i.e., Canva, InDesign) 
- Customer Relationship Management software (i.e., Tessitura) 
- Research 
- Microsoft Office Suite 
- Editing and proofreading 
- Experience and/or interest in the performing arts is preferred but not required 
COMPENSATION
- $22.50 per hour 
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
- Internship Period: June 5 – August 6 
- Total Weeks: 9 weeks 
- Work Hours per Week: 28 
- Total Hours: 252 
- Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays) 
- Work hours will be 8:30-4:30 
PROGRAM DAY:
- On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort. 
- These hours are separate from the internship hours.
