The Intrepid Museum: Education Intern (New York)
OVERVIEW
As an intern working within the Intrepid Museum’s Education department—a busy team within a large institution and New York City cultural icon—the applicant will further the Museum’s efforts to educate our youth and inspire future generations by working with the Senior Coordinator of Education to update statistics and databases used to facilitate planning, outreach, and grant reporting efforts.
During the project period, the applicant will learn how to track, organize, edit and import spreadsheet data into the Museum’s customer relationship management software systems, and will assist in implementing additional updates and improvements in the administrative efforts of the Education department. As part of this internship, the applicant will also gain an understanding of the Education department as an integrated whole, experiencing department programming and participating in intra- and interdepartmental meetings to see firsthand how their work bears on the Museum’s efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete tutorials in software including Tessitura, Excel, and Google Suite.
Update education program data, tracking grant inputs, and organizing historical records.
Identify and articulate the impact of their work within the department’s administrative functions.
Participate in team and interdepartmental meetings
Real-time updates to the Museum's CRM (Tessitura) and preparation of council district reporting data.
Final deliverables may include before-and-after CRM data snapshots, visualized reports, and a written summary of contributions and impact, suitable for inclusion in professional portfolios
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
Detail-oriented mindset, especially in handling large datasets
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Experience with Tessitura or other CRM/database systems (preferred)
Interest in museum education, nonprofit administration, or arts program delivery (preferred)
COMPENSATION
$22.50 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 2 – August 1
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays – Thursdays)
Work Hours will be 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
PROGRAM DAY:
On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
